Podcast Proposal

Purpose of My Podcast
The purpose of my Podcast is to provide an informational review and preview of our classroom explorations.

Podcast Description
My Podcast will be created for my students, parents, and community members. At the beginning of each week, I will post a Podcast describing the upcoming events and topics covered in class that week. The majority of Podcasts I will host myself, however, on occasion, my students may participate. The length of the Podcasts will range from 4-10 minutes depending on the amount of information I need to share. My Podcast content will include basic "newsletter" information about our classroom as well as tips for improving academic skills at home.

I plan to incorporate classroom pictures, videos, and artifacts as well. The Podcast I post each week will provide information about the week's objectives and assignments. It will also provide helpful links that correlate with the topics of discussion. I may also include online worksheets or assignment links to be completed that week. My Podcast will become a highly important asset to my students' learning experience.

State/Local Objectives
The objectives will vary weekly.

Animoto--Butterfly Video

Reflection
I really enjoyed creating this project using Animoto. I especially liked that the site provides ability to create videos free to educators and their students! As an educator, I can see a multitude of uses for this product and am confident students would enjoy watching and creating their own videos. One way teachers may use this application would be to introduce a new topic of discussion. This tool would create a sense of wonder and excitement for the students. I believe it would also promote a higher level of interest from ALL students.

Students could also use this tool. As an educator, the site gives you--and your students--access to create an unlimited amount of videos within a six-month period. Students could use this site to create a video over their research topic. They could present the video before, during, or after presenting pertinent information about their given topic. Another way they may utilize this website, especially at the beginning of the year, would be to create a video about themselves. Using pictures of and about themselves, they could create a video that describes their interests using pictures and music.

As you watch my video, you will notice I have edited several pictures using Picnik.com. ALL of the pictures I edited, I also added text to. The picture edit tools I used included text, crop, frame, color splash, and soft focus. I LOVE PICNIK! It gives you the opportunity to make an ordinary picture--EXTRAORDINARY. And the best part is, IT'S FREE!

I look forward to the opportunity to use this video--and more--in the future.

ENJOY!
