Animoto--Butterfly Video
Reflection
I really enjoyed creating this project using Animoto. I especially liked that the site provides ability to create videos free to educators and their students! As an educator, I can see a multitude of uses for this product and am confident students would enjoy watching and creating their own videos. One way teachers may use this application would be to introduce a new topic of discussion. This tool would create a sense of wonder and excitement for the students. I believe it would also promote a higher level of interest from ALL students.
Students could also use this tool. As an educator, the site gives you--and your students--access to create an unlimited amount of videos within a six-month period. Students could use this site to create a video over their research topic. They could present the video before, during, or after presenting pertinent information about their given topic. Another way they may utilize this website, especially at the beginning of the year, would be to create a video about themselves. Using pictures of and about themselves, they could create a video that describes their interests using pictures and music.
As you watch my video, you will notice I have edited several pictures using Picnik.com. ALL of the pictures I edited, I also added text to. The picture edit tools I used included text, crop, frame, color splash, and soft focus. I LOVE PICNIK! It gives you the opportunity to make an ordinary picture--EXTRAORDINARY. And the best part is, IT'S FREE!
I look forward to the opportunity to use this video--and more--in the future.
ENJOY!

Great idea for your Animoto project. I hope you can use this with your classes. Would be great to use to introduce your unit.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Using this as an introduction or anticipatory set were my exact thoughts for this video. I can hardly wait to use it!! =0)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great video. I am sure your students will really enjoy viewing it! I agree with your comments about students using this as a tool. As I was making a video at school, a student walked in and commented on how he uses Animoto (the free version) at home. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Lindsey. I enjoyed reading your reflection as well. I am so glad you chose to create this project as an anticipatory set. I see this video as an excellent hook for your unit. I love the music you chose and the editing you did in Picnik was great. I am glad you found these tools useful and that you will keep using Animoto to create more videos to use with your students. Keep up the good work!
